I grew up in the small town of Antioch, Illinois, which is located on the border of Illinois and Wisconsin. Growing up as a child, my life was focused around adventure and being around nature and water especially. My life was water and boating, however, I still had a love for animals and knew I wanted to work with them in the future. When I came to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to pursue my bachelor’s degree, I became extremely interested in reproduction and working with dairy cows. I used this new found love to create the path to my future goal of becoming a large animal veterinarian. My first step was completing an internship in New Zealand where I reared over 650 dairy calves within a 2 month period. From there, I sought out the advisement of Dr. Phil Cardoso to complete my Masters in reproductive biology for dairy cattle. As I complete my research trials, I become more interested in new research trials that can be conducted in the future. I am excited to see the results and where my future in reproductive biology for dairy cows will take me.
