My name is Geoff Carney, and I am from the south suburbs of Chicago. I obtained my B.S. in Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I loved it so much, I decided to stay to get a masters in Animal Sciences, which is our new one-year non-thesis program. Leading up to the start of grad school, I always thought: Vet school or bust. That was up until the last semester of my undergraduate career, when I began to be more open to the thought of grad school. Let me tell you, I am glad I did. Through this, I have met many wonderful and fascinating individuals. I love that I get to have the chance to learn something from each and every one of our top notch professors and colleagues.
Once I obtain my Masters in Animal Sciences, I hope to move onto veterinary school. I plan on being a mixed animal veterinarian and hope to open my own practice in the next twenty years. When I am not at the farm, or in the office, you can most likely find me at the gym, local coffee shop or Memorial Stadium watching some Illini football.
